Ruo Li receives a mysterious gift from his brother, Rou Ji: a severely injured red fox. He tenderly cares for it, which surprisingly transforms into a human once healed. This human, named "Bai Ye" reveals he is a fox spirit training for ascension but was subjected by his master to three earthly trials— resentment, separation, and unfulfilled desires-to achieve celestial transcendence. What Ruo Li doesn't realize is that he is not just Bai Ye's caretaker, but also his destined trial.
