This is a story about the friendship between Lily and robot No. A-00, or simply Shelly, created by Lily's mother Dr. Milburn. Although Lily treats her kindly as both a guardian and a sister, Shelly is unsure about who she is and her place in a society where she is perceived as nothing more than a “tool." Nevertheless, following a mysterious event, Shelly gradually begins to feel emotions sprout from her cold body. Can a robot feel? What is humanity? Can something become human when it feels the same kind of emotions?
