Taipei Laixin
A small splash in history, became an ocean that separated a family for half a century. Until a letter sent from Taipei in 1994 was able to bridge the waters.
At the grandfather's funeral, grandma and grandson finally have a conversation about the past. Back in the year 1948, the new China has just implemented land reforms. During this treacherous time, the Shen brothers, teaching at a private school, were accused of "unethical behavior." In a quiet little village, dark events unfolded, and in just a few months time, the Shen family would be torn apart.
This is a story about the life of an ordinary old lady from a village in China. Her story is but a single tear in the grand river of history, vanishingly small, yet truly poignant.
