A beautiful sad love story known as the Japanese version of "Romeo and Juliet."

Narimichi is a young man of high social standing born into the family of the shogunate. Rai, a young woman who lived freely in the mountains after she was abducted as a young child. Under normal circumstances, these two would never cross paths, but a chance encounter in front of a special tree called “Raiou” sparks an unlikely romance. The two soon fall in love, but their drastically different upbringings and the expectations of their respective families threaten to doom their relationship.
