Ogura is middle-aged and unemployed, living off his parents' inheritance. Drunk, he brings home a huge bivalve he had picked up on the riverbed directly in front of his house to eat. Inside it, however, was a child, Kainoko-chan! He(?) is a skilled talker, having listened to FM radio for many years! What's more, an unending supply of fermented foods and other preservable seasonings can be extracted from his shell! Thus begins the unusual days of the shell child and Ogura....
