An adaptation of the classic novel of Guy de Maupassant.

France in the 19th century. Jeanne, the only daughter of a baron, has just turned 20 and leaves the convent to go and live with her parents in their home in Les Peuples. There, she is introduced to a young viscount whom she marries, and she seems to continue living in a fairy tale; but reality keeps catching up with her in all its cruelty... Was this marriage a mistake?
