In Manchuria, near the end of the war, in the story 97 Over Drive, a Manchurian former cameraman crosses the front line all alone in an attempt to rescue an actress amidst the chaos of advancing Soviet troops. Also includes the story Between Heaven and Hell, about a nighttime air-raid on the mainland.
